  • Graffiti Rock Kickstarter

    Last week, multi-media artist and filmmaker Michael Holman, co-founder of the post-punk collective Gray along with Jean-Michel Basquiat, announced a Kickstarter campaign to produce the feature-length documentary, Graffiti Rock: The Untold Story, as well as release the 30th Anniversary Edition of Graffiti Rock on DVD. Holman was the producer of this first ever nationwide hip-hop variety show which featured Run-D.M.C.'s incredible performance of "Sucker M.C.'s," Kool Moe Dee and Special K of The Treacherous Three, the New York City Breakers, and a studio dance crowd which included Debi Mazar (Goodfellas, L.A. Law, Entourage) and Vincent Gallo. Holman has promised lots of never-before-seen footage from his personal archives as well as rare NYC cable access hip-hop shows from 1982 featuring names like DJ Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Jazzy Jay, Fab 5 Freddy, Doug E. Fresh, Grand Mixer DXT, DJ Jazzy Joyce, and K-Rob. Go here for more information and to make a pledge.
